Who What Where

My name is Lynn, and I'm a twenty-seven year old homebody, clean freak, artist, blogger, couch potato, knitter, animal lover, casual gamer, serious internet addict, and hopelessly devoted wife from Charleston, South Carolina. I created this website in March of 2008 as a place for me to write a lot about nothing. It's where I share my opinions and vent my frustrations, both of which I have more than enough of. It's also cheaper than therapy. Want more?

Finally a Good Reason to Shop at Walmart

As I've said before, I am not a fan of Walmart. Until there's more development out in this area, though, I don't have much else of a choice for grocery shopping, so every time before I go there, I actually have to mentally prepare myself. If I don't, I fear I may just flip out and cause a scene because I hate just about everyone that shops there. There's always at least one person that does something that pisses me off, and holding back the rage makes my left eye twitch. It's not pleasant. At all. Hate the Walmart.

However, a couple days ago I was shown a very clever site that has given me a reason to actually want to go to. Instead of trying to distract myself from my surroundings while shopping in order to avoid noticing anything with potential to piss me off, I will actually be keeping an eye out so I can take a photo and submit it to People of Walmart. I won't just be grocery shopping, I'll be white-trash hunting too! Oh, the fun to be had.

Since first seeing the website, I've left it open in a tab to remind myself to blog about it. And, of course, I've been refreshing it every now and then to check for new updates. Tonight, however, the site is actually forwarding to an article on Time.com. Apparently they received so much traffic over the last few days that their site crashed, so I hope they are doing something to fix that soon. I actually have a trip to Walmart scheduled for tomorrow after class and will hopefully be returning home with at least one photo worthy of submission.

Andrew, his brother Adam and their friend Luke started People of Walmart after a shopping trip to a South Carolina branch earlier this month. "We turned a corner to see a stripper — at least, I think she was a stripper — with a shirt that read 'Go F___ Yourself,' and she had a 2-year-old kid in one of those child harnesses that looked like a dog leash," says Adam. They turned another corner and saw a guy with a ZZ Top beard.

Aside from just being plain evil, part of the reason I hate going to Walmart is the customers. They all suck. All of them. I seriously can't shop at Walmart without having to restrain myself from the urge to kick people in their shins and punch them in their necks.

People of Walmart was founded in August of 2009 by three friends and roommates after an inspirational trip to WalMart. Let’s face it; we all have seen the people who obviously don’t have mirrors and/or family and friends to lock them in a basement, and they all seem to congregate at Walmart.

A friend recently shared People of Walmart with me and I found it to be genius. It's pretty amazing! I love sites that can add humor to your day.

Genius indeed! The concept is so simple and so perfect. For as long as I have been complaining about the typical Walmart clientele, I can't help but wonder, "why the hell didn't I think of that?!"

My question to you is this: which kind of Walmart do you go to? The super one with all the extras or the smaller one with just groceries? I recently went to a smaller one near where I live now and it is so much better. Instantly, upon walking in, I felt and knew it was going to be a much more pleasant and relaxing experience. On a side note, how do you get that cool user con next to your comment? Do want!

Both of the Walmarts are the super-center kind with a full grocery store and everything else. The only time they aren't packed to the brim with morons and bottom-feeders is in the middle of the night, but I don't want to stay up late just to avoid the crowds.

The icon is a background image for the author-specific container div. I couldn't find a way to use gravatars with Squarespace, so I had to find some other way to include an image. Unfortunately, there's no way for people with member accounts to upload their own, but if you want one, I can make one for you and edit the CSS file so your comments have an icon too. Just email me a picture. I think I'll actually go ahead and make an anonymous icon to be displayed with all other comments too. :)

Thanks for sharing the people of walmart site. Now whenever I need a good laugh I can visit that site and brighten my day. I too hate walmart, but maybe I should go and do some white trash hunting and snap a picture or too.
